They stated, “On March 15, the US Central Command commenced a series of operations involving precision strikes against Iran-backed Houthi positions throughout Yemen to defend American interests, deter adversaries, and ensure the freedom of navigation.”

US President Donald Trump also announced the military operation against the Houthi rebels in Yemen via Truth Social, warning Iran to sever its connections with the group.

He stated, “Today, I have authorized the United States Military to carry out strong and decisive action against the Houthi terrorists in Yemen. They have been engaged in a relentless campaign of piracy, violence, and terrorism targeting American and other vessels, aircraft, and drones.”

Addressing Iran, Trump warned, “Support for the Houthi terrorists must END IMMEDIATELY! Do NOT threaten the American people or their President, who has received one of the largest mandates in Presidential History, nor the shipping lanes of the world. If you do, BEWARE, because America will hold you fully accountable, and our response won’t be gentle!”

Trump asserted that the strikes were a response to Houthi rebels obstructing shipping in the Red Sea and threatening American interests. He also criticized former President Joe Biden for his lack of action against the Houthis.

The Houthi forces have vowed that these strikes “will not go unanswered.” They declared in a statement on Al-Masirah TV, “Our Yemeni armed forces are completely prepared to respond to escalation with escalation.”

The Yemen health ministry confirmed 20 fatalities and injuries to at least nine others. The Huthi Ansarollah website condemned the strikes, labeling them as “US-British aggression” and “criminal brutality” by the Trump administration.

Earlier, the Houthis declared their intent to resume efforts to disrupt shipping in the Red Sea and control global shipping traffic until Israel lifted its blockade on aid to Palestinians.

This month, the US, a close ally of Israel, designated the Houthis as a “foreign terrorist organization,” stating that they had assaulted the nation’s warships 174 times and its commercial vessels 145 times since 2023.
