My Hero Academia plays out like a superhero version of Harry Potter, with Marvel-style battles and Rocky-level underdog emotion. And despite having a nice comedic banter to it, it stayed smart enough to never go fully unhinged like perhaps The Boys did. While that’s not exactly a good faith comparison by any means, another anime, widely regarded as the most unserious anime of 2026, goes beyond even The Boys when it comes to being unhinged. Its original manga started in December 2020. Earlier this year, the anime adaptation premiered internationally on March 14, 2026, on Adult Swim's Toonami, followed by its television broadcast in Japan starting in April 2026.
