For horror fans, 2026 continues to grow from strength to strength. The first half of the year featured genre gems, including YouTuber Markiplier's Iron Lung, 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, director Sam Raimi'sreturn to horror in Send Help, and Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. Then the genre exploded into box office domination this past month, courtesy of two other former YouTube creators. Focus Features' Obsession, the most viral hit of 2026 so far, has turned a sub-$1 million budget into over $300 million to date, breaking several records along the way.
