With the 2025 LIV Golf Mexico City promising so much, the golf world can expect top performances from several big names, including Bryson DeChambeau.
Golfers to watch out for at the 2025 LIV Golf Mexico City
For defending champion Joaquin Niemann, the 2025 season appears to be in his favor. After winning the 2024 PIF Saudi International, Niemann crushed it this season, securing victories at the LIV Golf events in Adelaide and Singapore. Essentially, as he arrives at Club de Golf Chapultepec, the Chilean golfer will be looking to maintain his position at the top of the LIV Golf individual standings.
Similarly, Bryson DeChambeau is in great form. In his six starts this season, including the Masters, he has finished in the top 10 four times. Given his strong showing at the Masters, where he held the lead two holes into the final round, DeChambeau is expected to pose a significant threat to Niemann in his title defense.
Currently ranked third in the LIV Golf individual standings, Jon Rahm may not have finished strongly at Augusta National, but he has displayed consistent performance this season. The 2024 Player of the Year, Rahm, has finished in the top 10 in all events this season.
Patrick Reed began the season slowly, but the golfer has found his form in recent times. Thanks to his 2nd place finish at the International Series Macau, the American golfer has secured his spot at Portrush. Additionally, Reed followed it with a T7 finish in Miami and finished solo third (the best LIV Golf performance) at Augusta National.
Then, we cannot underestimate the power of homegrounds. Mexican golfers Carlos Ortiz (Torque GC) and Abraham Ancer (Fireballs GC) are expected to receive much love. Ancer has expressed that playing in front of his fellow Mexicans means a lot to him and his teammates. This, indeed, is a strong field; how can we miss out on most of them? But, who are you rooting for? Let us know in the comment section!
