Star Trek: Enterprise was canceled 20 years ago, but, in hindsight, the end of the first Star Trek prequel gave the franchise a chance for a rebirth years later. Due to myriad factors, including low ratings and a change in direction for the United Paramount Network (UPN), Star Trek: Enterprise was canceled at the end of season 4. Enterprise's demise not only made it the first Star Trek show since Star Trek: The Original Series to not run for seven seasons, but it also marked the end of executive producer Rick Berman's 18 years of running the Star Trek franchise.
