Romance is often included in choice-based RPGs like Cyberpunk 2077 as an optional subplot. Other RPGs, like the Final Fantasyseries, also include romance, though usually as a predetermined part of the story instead of a choice the player gets to make. Both strategies have their respective strengths and weaknesses, and gaming's best romances appear in both styles of storytelling.
