10 Ways to Restore Your Joy
**********
Have you ever felt like your joy was broken or maybe lost?
Recently while cleaning, I knocked this JOY ornament down and it broke. It was just a symbol of joy but it did make me think about how we can restore our broken joy.
Our world today is certainly lacking in joy. Even many Christians are joyless. Sometimes, it feels like living in a grey fog. But God can help you connect with your joy again.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me. Psalm 51:12 NIV
This verse is a prayer by David for God to restore his joy. You can also use it as a prayer at any time.

One. Joy is found in prayer.
Prayer is our way of having a conversation with God. Talk to Him about the things on your mind. Also, spend quiet time listening for His voice as He speaks to you.
If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer. Matthew 21:22 NIV
Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete. John 16:24 NIV
Try praying this prayer for joy: Holy Spirit, fill me with joy! I’m struggling in this season of my life. Guide me to my Father and His fullness of joy. Amen

Two. Joy is found in hope.
Embrace the hope found in God’s promises. Our hope in Jesus Christ is directly tied to our faith.
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. Hebrews 11:1 NIV

Three. Joy comes from knowing and trusting in the Lord.
You can be happy and not be joyful. Happiness is in the moment – like having an ice cream cone. Genuine joy only comes from knowing and trusting in the Lord.
Oh, the joys of those who trust the LORD… Psalm 40:4 NLT

Four. Joy is found by meditating on God’s Word.
Don’t just read God’s Word, but spend time meditating on what it is saying to you. Use a study Bible to help you understand what you are reading.
Your statutes (Bible) are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart.
Psalm 119:111 NIV

Five. Joy is found in worship and praise.
Spend time listening to praise music. Attending live services provides the opportunity to worship with like-minded Christians.
Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music;
Psalm 98:4 NIV

Six. Joy is found by serving others.
Service to others is a way to not only increase someone else’s joy, but you will also feel a spike in your own joy. There are so many ways to serve others and this may be your fast-track to joy.
The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:40 NIV

Eight. Joy is found by spending time in God’s presence.
Celebrate our powerful God to fully experience His joy. Let Him use our experiences to accomplish His work through our lives.
Every day, take time to read a portion of the scripture; memorize some of the verses; and spend sincere time talking to God through prayer.
You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11 NKJV
You have shown me the way of life, and you will fill me with the joy of your presence.’ Acts 2:28 NLT

Nine. Genuine joy is a gift from God.
Genuine joy prospers and grows as we grow in our relationship to God. He has given us hope and joy by giving us the Holy Spirit. He is the source of all of our joy.
And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
Romans 5:5 NLT
I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. John 15:10-11 NIV (Jesus said to his disciples after the Last Supper.)

Ten. God restores our joy.
Through encouragement and bringing good out of the situations we face, God does restore our joy. Repentance is the first step to asking God to restore our joy.
“…Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning. Psalm 30:5 NLT

Conclusion
The enemy is not after your family, your home, or your job. He is after your joy. He knows if he can steal your joy, you will not have the strength to withstand him. This is why it is important to restore and maintain your joy.
“…the joy of the LORD is your strength.” Nehemiah 8:10 NIV
