A war movie has to do more than show combat well. It has to make fear feel specific. A battlefield can be massive, but the real grip usually comes from one soldier, an order, one cowardly officer, one impossible mission, one friend who should have made it home, or one moment where survival stops feeling heroic and starts feeling like a curse.
