The historical genre is usually associated with lush epics about larger-than-life figures who left a mark on the world. They can be grand and sweeping, like Lawrence of Arabia, or more intimate and character-driven, like Rome, Open City, but they remain a source of entertainment for movie fans. Often, and like most other genres, historical efforts can be mixed with other genres, producing something new and unique.
