Plenty of comedies work because they're feel-good affairs. The average rom-com, for example, will balance romance and humor with perhaps only a little drama, all building to a likely positive ending. It Happened One Night, When Harry Met Sally, 10 Things I Hate About You… these are all typical examples of easy-to-watch comedies, and other comedies are breezy without necessarily focusing on stories about love (see The Naked Gun, Superbad, and Anchorman).
