Trying to get someone interested in something that'll take up countless hours of their lives isn't easy. It happens with TV shows that ran for multiple seasons (good luck getting anyone interested in Lost, nowadays, even if most of it’s great and the ending is kind of over-hated), and it also happens for books in general, but especially books that make up longer series.
