According to The American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language, 5th Edition, a satire is “A [...] work in which human foolishness or vice is attacked through irony, derision, or wit.” Far from being a simple parody or mockery, satire plumbs the depths of the human condition and isn’t afraid to acknowledge the truths and faults of a given topic. Ever since movies were invented, satires have played an important role in cinema's broader contribution to the arts.
