Fantasy novels aren't just limited to swords-and-sorcery-style sagas set in fantastical worlds. Many of the best books in the genre take a low fantasy approach instead. Some bring the magical to the mundane and explore what happens when our reality, or one very much like it, is injected with a healthy but restrained dose of the extraordinary. Others take place in fictional realms that have very little, or no, magic in them whatsoever.
