1 New Avengers Character Is Key to Daredevil: Born Again Season 2

A connection between Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 and the New Avengers side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been revealed. The update identifies a direct link to Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, sparking significant anticipation among fans. Daredevil: Born Again’s Mr. Charles’ Thunderbolts* connection confirmed

A new detail from Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has clarified how one of its characters ties into the wider Marvel narrative, with confirmation that Mr. Charles shares a connection to Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. The reveal builds a clearer link between the series and the world associated with the upcoming Thunderbolts*.

During a recent Movie Web interview, showrunner Dario Scardapane explained that Mr. Charles, portrayed by Matthew Lillard, was deliberately written as someone operating within Valentina’s sphere of influence. He said, “So, building Mr. Charles as somebody who lives in the Val world, we wanted to make that connection. So, that’s why that’s on the other end of the phone call.” 

While Scardapane noted interest in exploring the relationship further, he also acknowledged that  such decisions are determined at a higher level. He explained, “For me, personally, away from everything MCU, I would love her to be part of our world. There’s a story in the back of my head I would love to tell you, but I don’t know… Those choices aren’t mine.”

Executive producer Sana Amanat also addressed the connection, highlighting the importance of such links. “Yeah, it’s always nice to have that connective tissue, because you never know. So yes, as fans, we would love it,” she said. The update also puts to rest earlier speculation regarding Mr. Charles’ role. It confirms that the character is connected to Valentina’s network. 

Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to premiere on March 24, 2026, on Disney+.
